Nokia 6555
The interface used by Nokia 6555 is part of the 5th edition of the 40 series, which is already widely used by the Finnish company. One thing that is not very gratifying is represented by the fact that these series are not improved at all. However, we can not let the menu pass near us; comparing it to the new Nokia menus which are quite confusing, it is very intuitive and “friendly”.
Here we have to mention two things: firstly, the menu consists of icons arranged in 3 x 3 matrixes and secondly, the screen which displays the icons is almost double. We say “almost double” because you have to surf a little more down the “page” to reach all the phone menus. The navigation is easy, the phone not having big breaks when entering a menu. We move on and if we are at the menu chapter, we stop on the email functions. Nokia 6555 supports both SMS and MMS and e-mail. SMS and MMS share a mailbox and the e-mails arrive separately in another inbox. The last one supports the standard protocols POP3, SMTP and IMAP4.

The camera that equips this terminal has 1.3 mega pixels, without flash or auto focus. It is obvious that the captured pictures are not so good, especially if we talk about controlling the image noise, which spreads the photo both in light and shadow.
Nokia 6555 has also a MP3 player which supports MP3, AAC, AAC + and WMA. The sound output of the speaker phone is not very good and, if the song has a powerful beat the sound does not manage, the song being accompanied by a continuous noise. If you say you do not use MP3 player and if you want to listen to the radio, it is worse, because Nokia 6555 dies not have this type of accessorize.

The “job” with the MP3 player is slightly bizarre. The phone can take a back 4 GB microSD card, but it does not have enough music player performance. In addition, the phone package comes with no headphones and no USB cable for data transfer, and then comes the question: what is it so much storage space? If someone is thinking about buying the phone next to a microSD card, I think it would be a waste of time and money.
As for the connectivity chapter, Nokia 6555 comes with GPRS, EDGE and 3G on board, if it had Wi-Fi, we would move easier over its negative points. In addition, the phone comes with Opera Mini browser. In combination with the 2-inch screen with 16 million colors, surfing on the Internet is more than easier and pleasant.
Reviews On Nokia Phones
Beauty comes from deep inside. This is the best way to describe this phone. It is true that those from Nokia no matter what they are doing, the look of their phones is not so promising. This rule appears as a full embrace of Nokia 6555. But it is not nice to judge a book by its cover, we will move forward with the analysis.
Nokia 6555 is a clamshell model that seems to borrow a bit of the “look” of the Motorola models like W377, W490 and we say this because the two sides of the phone, the cover and the bottom are not equal, the appearance of symmetry of phone being visible only when the phone is closed.

As I said earlier, this model is among the most beautiful phones on the market, 6555 being a middle-class terminal or mid-level (mid-range). It measures 99.6 x 44.3 x 19.6 mm and weighs 79 grams. It is not the thinnest, but it is quite easy, probably because of the phone’s coating which is made of cheap plastic. Test phone came in these colors: black, red, silver and beige.
These being said, it is time we started a more detailed analysis of Nokia 6555. The front of the phone is occupied mostly by a screen resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and 256,000 colors, on which the clock is displayed, but this topic may change. Also in the front we find the phone’s speaker, Nokia’s logo and the 1.3 mega pixel camera lens.

The back cover is represented by the battery cover. This phone has a Lithium-Ion 1020 mAh capacity which in theory holds up to 300 hours in standby mode and up to 390 minutes of talk time. In this part of the phone we have a small drawback namely microSD card slot that we find, just like the SIM card, under the battery. The good news is that the phone can go back up to 4 GB.
Going further, we reach the left side with the two buttons, the camera and the activation volume, and below a miniUSB connector cable. The right side is poor, we find here only the 2.5 mm jack where we can attach headphones and the attachment slot, which in the case of Nokia 6555 is the charger.
Under the D-pad we have the three rows of standard alphanumeric keypad. To send a message with this phone is very easy, the keys of Nokia 6555 being large, with a rapid response.
Mobile Motorola Phone
If the music left us stunned, now we will talk about the camera where things are not very pink. Motorola ROKR E8's problem is the same as Sony’s Ericsson Walkman, the 2 mega pixel CMOS which is already outdated, users asking 3.20 mega pixels for the phones which are not dedicated to photos. Of course, the ROKR E8 does not have the flash and the auto focus, thing that makes the use of the camera a little bit uncomfortable.
The photos are decent if they are captured in natural light. You do not have too many reasons to use the camera equipment, only if something is urgent, but you need patience. The captured images will be made at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. In case you want to make a video capture, Motorola ROKR E8 can do this at a maximum resolution of 174 x 144 pixels QCIF in 3GP format.

The camera is activating by dedicated button on the left side, below the volume button, but when you click it, you will have to wait a few seconds until it will activate. When you get in the camera menu, the keypad will change again. You have two tactile buttons, zoom in / out and a shortcut to pictures’ files and films, plus another button, the one of changing the way of capturing images with the video capture.
Motorola ROKR E8 has the possibility of capturing images in burst of 4.6 or 8 pictures and shooting modes like black and white, negative, reddish, blue, green and timer function.

From a technical point of view, Motorola ROKR E8 is a good phone. As a music phone it is very good. The price / quality ratio is more than satisfactory. The only problems of the mid-ranger are the too big sizes and the too small screen, 2 mega pixels camera and its poor performance, but also the battery that promises even more. The fact that the E8 terminal comes with a new tactile interface, which can be also used as a music player, not only makes us happy and gives us hope, but in the same time it makes us think that this model is on the good way. The idea is: you want a music phone and Motorola ROKR E8 is exactly what you want.

Actually, many smart phones have GPS receiver and most of them are excellent for surfing, but HTC Touch Cruise stands out as the best handset for navigation in the car. The device features a large display and navigation via touch screen, essential for this type of navigation.
HTC Corporation won with HTC Touch Cruise terminal an award at the “Best Mobile Sat Nav” category at the Mobile Choice Awards 2008 held in London.
The winners of all categories were voted by a specialized jury chosen from the mobile phones industry, who decided that HTC Touch Cruise is the best device for navigation.

Best Samsung Phone
Samsung X700 is equipped with a 1.3 mega pixel camera. The photos are taken at a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. The camera lens is not protected, but it is quite hidden in order to avoid any scratches. The camera is activated either from the main menu or by pressing the button on the long side. The screen also offers the possibility to choose how to display information and the entire image or only the central part of the image. The camera can be intuitively handled. The main navigation buttons of the menu serve as options of changing the exposure and the digital zoom. The photos are horizontally taken. Both the central part of the stick and the right button of the phone can be used if you want to exit the camera’s menu.
Samsung X700 camera is able to apply various photo effects. You can use sepia, negative, you can draw, or you can join up to 9 photos. You can edit the taken photos, by adding a wide range of frames that can be turned both vertically and horizontally. Unfortunately, the images decorated are limited to a size of 176 x 144 pixels.

The quality of the video camera does not excel. The photos are affected the most by the pronounced color. The best pictures are those taken when the object is located at an average distance and the text is almost unintelligible.
The zoom is available for photos when they are visualized on the entire display. The images are automatically stored in memory. If you want them on the memory card, you have to move them manually. They can be easily sent to another phone via Bluetooth or printed, because the new Samsung is compatible with standard Bridge Pic. If you are a self-portraits fan you can use the small mirror located above the camera lens. This is the moment when you regret the lack of an additional LED or at least that of a night setting on this phone.

The phonebook is enormous. It includes up to one thousand contacts, each contact having a name and a last name, 5 phone numbers, email address and a note. In addition, to each of the 10 groups of contacts it may be assigned a song, image or name. Unfortunately, Samsung X700 is not permissible in terms of using contact groups or call filter.
Samsung X700 has polyphonic ring tones, MP3 files and voice recording.
Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones
The phonebook’s interface is simple and easy to use. You can choose to display your phone contacts from your SIM card or the memory. Both lists cannot be simultaneously displayed. An interesting option is that you can save on the SIM card every new contacts that you want to add in memory. The phonebook capacity is of 1000 contacts but you can add to the agenda up to 2500 numbers. The contacts can be displayed either by name or surname. The search of a particular name is done by gradual typing.
You can assign to each added contact 5 phone numbers: mobile, home, work, fax or other number. This is the first tab for new contacts. The second tab is for your e-mail and web page. In the third tab you can add a picture and a special tone. In the fourth tab you can add the following information: function, company, street, city, county, zip code. In the last tab you can pass additional information and date of birth. When you add a birth date, the phone asks you if you want to add it to the calendar and if you want to associate it with a reminder. The phone calls are structured in four different fields: all calls, received calls, dialed and missed calls. The four fields can store up to 30 calls, divided into separate sections.

All messages, except the e-mails, are stored in a single Inbox. The phone also has a RSS feed reader that uses the NetFront web browser. When you type a message, there is a counter of characters that appears on the screen when there are only 20 characters to the limit of 160. The popular T9 dictionary is not missing.

At the “Files” chapter, we did not meet any new thing. You can mark files (one or more), you can copy or move them. You can also create or delete folders. There are 3 fields with lists of files: one for files from the phone, another for those on the memory stick and another for all files. The internal phone’s memory is of 64MB. Also, the device has a slot for Memory Stick Micro M2. It consists of a retail package of the 128 MB phone card, which is still insufficient for a 3-megapixel camera phone.
The display of the images can be made in list form with or without thumbnails. They also can be viewed from thumbnails as type 3 x 3 or 5 x 5. Also in thumbnail mode, we can display the video files.
Motorola Cell Phones
RIZR's keyboard is very similar to that of the previous models from Motorola, the first phone that has adopted this design being the famous RAZR V3. It is perfectly designed, offering maximum safety and control. The numeric keypad is visible only when the shutter is open. We meet two keys that can be configured as desired by the user. Unfortunately, like other Motorola models, the menu navigation key cannot be configured. A novelty is the C key which is very similar to that seen in Sony Ericsson phones. It fulfills the function of correction. The backlight of the keyboard is dark blue.
The team that dealt with this model has solved a big problem faced by most phones: sun light readability. From this point of view, Motorola RIZR Z3 works flawlessly. The same can be said about the backlight. The display runs at a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels with 256,000 colors. In terms of sound and signal, RIZR successfully passed all tests. So, you can use it even in a quiet area with high noise pollution.

The graphical user interface implemented for RIZR Z3 is almost identical to that seen in Motorola RAZR V3. It has not suffered too many basic changes. Among them we include the possibility of navigating among the categories from the “Calls” menu, with the help of the keys “•” and “#”. Thus, with these buttons you can access options such as received calls, dialed numbers and missed calls.
This facility it is not met at the previous Motorola models. Other minor changes have occurred in themes and animations. New pre-installed themes of the RIZR Z3 are much better than those found in older models. The phone’s menu makes very well its job, having a very good reaction in terms of speed. Motorola RIZR Z3 has the possibility of activation of the “Flight” mode. It is an option that we should meet at all the new phones.

The phonebook can store up to 1000 entries. Each contact can be assimilated to phone numbers, e-mail address, home and work, a ring tone and a picture. The name search method is simple: you type the first letter of the desired contact. As we have mentioned, Motorola RIZR has the ability to use the ''#'' and ''*'' keys to navigate among the subcategories. The categories contain the 10 past calls, whether we talk about dialed numbers, received or missed phone calls. The date and time are shown when these events took place, but not, for example, how many times you were called by the same person.
